ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's 51st ranked men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback against McKendree on Saturday at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Ill. The Flyers drop to 10-6, 0-2 GLVC while the Bearcats improve to 13-2, 2-1 GLVC.
Lewis won the opening point of the match by taking two of the three doubles contests.
Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia/) and
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia/) defeated Leonardo Frederico and Boriss Kamdem 6-3 in the first doubles contest. In the second one it was
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) and
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/) beating Lorenzo del Biondo and Nanase Ebisu 6-4 and in the final doubles match it as Vishnu Prasad and Subash Paramasivan knocking off
Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, Poland) and
Andrej Zoranovic (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) 6-4.
McKendree dominated the singles portions of the match as it won five of the six contests. The Flyers only win came at number three singles with Ambrozic defeating Paramasivan 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Lewis is back in action on Sunday afternoon as it travels to Springfield, Ill., to take on Illinois Springfield at 1 p.m.
