Aguilar Scores Two Goals; Lewis Women's Soccer Falls to Parkside Saturday

KENOSHA, Wis. – Sophomore Elisa Aguilar (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) scored her first two goals of the season as the Lewis University women's soccer team dropped their match against Parkside in a non-conference showdown at Wood Road Soccer Field, 3-2, Saturday (Aug. 27).

HALF BREAKDOWN 
FIRST HALF: Lewis 1, Parkside 1
  • Lewis looked to strike first in the third and sixth minute but the shots by Cameron Sengstock (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) and Mariana Pinto (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) were off target.
  • A couple minutes later, Parkside was able to capitalize and find the back of the net to grab a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute.
  • The Flyers looked to respond right away as Kenedi Jones (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) went on the attack but her shot was saved.
  • Lewis was able to capitalize in the 16th minute to tie the match at 1-all after Elisa Aguilar (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) found the back of the net.
  • Sonia Finch (Lombard, Ill./Montini) looked to give the Flyers the lead in the 23rd minute but the Parkside goalkeeper was there for the save.
  • Lewis had a few other shot attempts but none were able to find the back of the net including Jones' shot in the 39th minute which was saved.
SECOND HALF: Lewis 1, Parkside 1
  • Lewis started off the second half by taking the lead as Aguilar found the back of the net for the second time in the match in the 47th minute.
  • Parkside would answer right back in the 52nd minute to tie the contest up at 2-all.
  • The Rangers recorded a few shot attempts but they were either off target or saved.
  • Meredith Coon (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) and Allie Lankowicz (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) went on the attack in the 78th and 79th minute but their shot attempts went high.
  • Parkside took the lead in the 82nd minute as the Rangers found the back of the net for a 3-2 advantage. 
  • Jones looked to quickly tie it in the 84th minute but her shot was saved. 
FINAL SCORE: Parkside 3, Lewis 2

Lewis University will be back for their home opener Wednesday, August 31 as the Flyers host Purdue Northwest starting at 5 p.m. CT.
