PENASCOLA, Fla. - The No. 17 Lewis University women's volleyball team won both matches during day two of the UWF Walk On's Invitational Saturday. The Flyers defeated UNC-Pembroke in straight sets, 30-28, 25-18, 25-17; then upset the No. 8 team in the country University of West Florida in four sets on their home floor, 28-26, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22.

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: No. 17 Lewis 30, UNC-Pembroke 28
- Lewis went up 9-6 early in the first before the Braves came back and took a quick glance 12-11 lead.
- The Flyers rallied for four points in a row thanks to a service ace by Van Loo to put them ahead 15-12.
- UNC-Pembroke would not give in as the Braves scored seven out of the next eight points to go up 19-16.
- Lewis was at set point after Ray and Stenman recorded a block at 25-24 but both teams would go back and forth.
- The Braves had set point at 28-27 but Lewis was able to rally for three straight points to take the first set 30-28.
SECOND SET: No. 17 Lewis 25, UNC-Pembroke 18
- UNC-Pembroke went ahead 5-3 before Lewis marched back and scored three straight after a kill by Ray to grab a 6-5 lead.
- Lewis jumped out to a 13-8 lead after back-to-back kills by Freppon and Taki.
- The Flyers had their biggest lead of the second set after a block by Ray and Freppon made it 20-13 in favor of Lewis.
- Lewis was able to hang on and capture the second set 25-18.
THIRD SET: No. 17 Lewis 25, UNC-Pembroke 17
- Lewis jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after a kill by Ray.
- Later in the set, the Flyers went up 10-3 after Keegan Carey (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and Taki recorded a block at the net.
- UNC-Pembroke tried to crawl back in the match after cutting it down to 11-7 in favor of Lewis.
- The Flyers bounced back and scored the next eight out of the next nine points to grab a 19-8 advantage.
- Lewis ended up winning the third set 25-17 and the match 3-0.

- Both teams would trade points early on until it was 9-all.
- Van Loo recorded back-to-back service aces to give the Flyers a 16-10 advantage.
- UWF fought back and scored the next four points to cut it down to two points (16-14).
- Lewis went up 23-21 late in the first set before the Argos rallied off three straight points to force set point at 24-23.
- A huge kill by Ray kept the Flyers in the set.
- Moments later, Hannah Alvey (Mapleton, Ill.) and Taki recorded a huge block to set the Flyers in position to win the first set 28-26.
SECOND SET: No. 8 West Florida 25, No. 17 Lewis 18
- Both teams would trade early leads and ties in the early stages during UWF went up 11-6 in the second set.
- Van Loo recorded a kill to cut it back down to two points (14-12) but the Argos were one step ahead of the Flyers this set.
- West Florida went up 21-15 towards the end of the second set before Lewis scored three straight after kills by Schlechte and Taki and a service ace by Stenman.
- The Argos finished off the second set by winning three straight points to win it 25-18 to tie the match at 1-1.
THIRD SET: No. 17 Lewis 25, No. 8 West Florida 18
- It was another back-and-forth start to the third set with both teams scoring 12 points a piece.
- Lewis was able to pull away and score seven straight points which included three kills by Taki and was capped off by a service ace by Schlechte.
- The Flyers won the third set 25-18 after back-to-back kills by Stenman and Taki which gave Lewis the 2-1 set advantage.
FOURTH SET: No. 17 Lewis 25, No. 8 West Florida 22
- The Argos started out the fourth set with a 8-5 lead early in the fourth set.
- Lewis fought right back and scored eight straight capped off by a kill by Van Loo to make it 13-8 Flyers.
- UWF would late crawl back and make it a 18-18 score looking to force a fifth set.
- Both teams each scored four points each to make it 22-22 late in the fourth before Lewis scored the last three points off kills by Van Loo and Ray which gave them the fourth set and the match 3-1.
Final Score: No. 17 Lewis 3, No. 8 West Florida 1
