SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Illinois-Springfield 25, No. 13 Lewis 20
- Illinois-Springfield jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the first set before Stenman recorded a kill to end that rally.
- Lewis cut it down to 8-3 before the Prairie Stars scored six in a row to make it 14-3.
- Taki got the Flyers right back in the set after back-to-back kills.
- The Prairie Stars made it 22-15 late in the first set before the Flyers scored five in a row to cut it down to two (22-20) after an ace by Stenman.
- UIS won the last three points to win the set 25-20.
SECOND SET: Illinois-Springfield 25, No. 13 Lewis 23
- Lewis jumped out to an early 5-1 lead after a kill by Ray.
- UIS bounced back and went on an 7-1 advantage to grab a 8-6 lead early in the second set.
- Back-to-back kills by Schlechte and Taki gave Lewis a 10-9 lead.
- The Flyers were able to grab a 14-10 lead after a kill by Stefanski and Taki.
- Late in the second set, Lewis had a 20-17 lead before UIS scored four straight to regain the lead.
- Both teams were tied at 23-all before the Prairie Stars ended it by winning the last two points to grab a 2-0 lead.
THIRD SET: Illinois-Springfield 25, No. 13 Lewis 19
- Both teams would trade early leads before UIS grabbed a 11-8 advantage.
- Back-to-back kills by Stefanski and Hannah Alvey (Mapleton, Ill.) gave the Flyers back the lead at 13-12.
- Ray recorded back-to-back kills to extend the lead out to 16-14.
- The Prairie Stars rallied for six points in a row to grab an 20-16 advantage.
- UIS would go on to win 25-19 in the third set to win the match 3-0.
