ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University men's volleyball team bounced back in a big way in its home opener as the Flyers swept Missouri S&T in straight sets, 3-0, at Neil Carey Arena, Tuesday (Jan. 10).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Lewis 25, Missouri S&T 17
- Lewis jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a service ace by Cole Brillhart (York, Pa./Northeastern) then Missouri S&T responded with three straight points of their own.
- The Flyers led 6-5 in the set before the Miners rallied off three straight to grab a 8-6 lead.
- Lewis had the answer and four straight after back-to-back kills by Tyler Simpson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and Brillhart then would not give up the lead after that in the opening set.
- The Flyers put the first set away after rallying off three straight points to win 25-17.
SECOND SET: Lewis 25, Missouri S&T 12
- Lewis jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second set after a kill by Celichowski.
- The closest the Miners got was 8-6 Lewis in the early the second set.
- The Flyers jumped out to a 17-8 lead after a service ace by Alec Lehnert (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North).
- Syver Drolsum (Vikersund, Norway/Toppvolley Norge) made it 23-11 moments later after recording a kill.
- Lewis put Missouri S&T away in the second set 25-12 and took a 2-0 lead.
THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Missouri S&T 15
- Lewis jumped out to a 6-4 lead after a kill by Piotr Wymoczyl (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove HS) from Kauling then the Miners responded and tied the set at 6-all.
- Both teams traded the next four points and made it 8-8.
- The Flyers then rallied for nine straight points to go up 17-8 which was capped off by a kill by Celichowski.
- The Miners tried to get back in the set but Nathan DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley HS) had other plans.
Final Score: Lewis 3, Missouri S&T 0
