LEBANON, Ill. – The Lewis University women's basketball team bounced back in a big way Thursday as the Flyers defeated McKendree, 79-62, on the road at Melvin Price Center.

SUMMARY
Lewis jumped out to an early 13-8 lead after a layup from Schmidt. McKendree responded with seven unanswered points to go up 15-13 with 3:59 to go in the first quarter.
The Flyers responded with back-to-back three pointers by Hart and Courier to make it 20-17. Both teams traded points before Lewis went up 24-23 at the end of the first quarter.
Hilber started the scoring in the second quarter after knocking down a three-pointer to make it 29-23. Moments later, Badali made it 36-30 with five minutes to go before the Flyers went cold from the floor.
The Bearcats scored five unanswered points to cut it down to one (36-35) then Gugliuzza hit a layup with under a minute remaining in the first half. Lewis led 38-35 at the break.
Lewis started the second half with nine unanswered in the first five minutes of the second half to go up 47-35. The Bearcats looked to respond but Brown made it a 15-point game (51-36) with 2:34 to go in the third quarter.
The Flyers held the Bearcats to just six points in the third quarter including a basket with 31 seconds left as Lewis led 55-41.
Badali started the fourth quarter with a three-point play which made it 58-41. Moments later, Gugliuzza had back-to-back three pointers to make it 67-45 for their biggest lead of the game at 22.
Lewis would go on to win the contest 79-62.
