ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team defeated #21 Maryville 2-0 Friday (Oct. 13) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Lewis Stadium.

HALF BREAKDOWN
FIRST HALF: Lewis 1, Maryville 0
Lewis recorded the first two shots of the contest, both coming from Revell but both were off target. Bogers was able to put the first shot on goal for either side but it was saved by Maryville's goalkeeper.
The first and only goal of the first half came from Bogers at the time of 36:40. The Saints tried to get something started offensively but the Flyer's defense managed to not let a single shot be taken in the first.
SECOND HALF: Lewis 1, Maryville 0
Lewis got started early in the second half after Bogers recorded his second goal of the game at the time of 46:59. Following the goal, Lewis attempted three more shots, one taken by
Makonnen Stampley (Lockport, Ill./Lockport), while the other two were taken by Bogers one being saved by Maryville's goalkeeper and the other being off target.
Both teams traded shots towards the end of the second half with Flyer
Marco Holzer (Kapfenberg, Austria/BORG Kapfenberg) taking one in the 74' minute and the other being taken by
Joshua Kieldyk (Schleswig-Holstein, Germany/Bundesliga Junior-A Eimsbutteler) in the 84' minute. The Lewis defense continued to shine, allowing 0 shots on goal for Maryville to end the game.
