HALF BREAKDOWN
FIRST HALF: Lewis 1, Maryville 1
Maryville came out of the gate with aggression, recording two shots on goal in the first 10 minutes, but Nielsen saved both attempts.
Lewis then grabbed the early lead as Hadzic scored on a rebound after Culver took the initial shot, which went off the crossbar, at the 10:15 mark. Hadzic was able to beat a Saints defender to the ball and put it home on the bottom left side.
Maryville came right back, though, scoring at the 14:04 mark to tie the match at one.
Nielsen was called on once again in the 20th minute as the Saints took another shot, and the senior made the stop to keep the match tied. Neither side recorded a shot on goal in the last 25 minutes of the opening half.
SECOND HALF: Lewis 0, Maryville 0
The second half proved difficult for both sides as the rain intensified. The Flyers took the first shot on goal in the 57th minute, but could not beat the Saints' goalkeeper.
Lewis earned another shot on goal in the 65th minute, and Nielsen made a pair of clutch saves in the 77th and 78th minutes to hold the 1-1 score.
The Flyers had one more chance with a shot on goal in the 87th minute, but Maryville's keeper made a diving save to preserve the tie.
