Lewis Women’s Soccer Honors Seniors; Falls to Quincy Sunday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's soccer team finished its regular season on Sunday (Oct. 29) with a 1-0 setback against Quincy as the Flyers honored their senior class.

Lewis honored its eight seniors before the game: Emily Villasenor (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South), Bekah Nielsen (Normal, Ill./Heartland Community College), Jordyn Bigos (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South), Grace DeVaux (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North), Olivia Zediker (Rockford, Ill./Guilford), Anna Sterns, Brooke Harris (Highland, N.Y./Highland), Christina Mondelli (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett).

HALF BREAKDOWN
FIRST HALF: Lewis 0, Quincy 0 
Aguilar tried to strike quickly for the Flyers recording a shot in the first minute but it was off target. Melisa Hadzic (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) and CosaBella Milazzo (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) both recorded the next two shots in the 20' and 22' but both were off target. 

Breanna Culver (Roscoe, Ill./Wisconsin-Milwaukee) recorded a shot at the 31:02 mark in the first half but went out right. Quincy tried to get on the scoreboard in the 36' but the Hawks shot went out right. 

SECOND HALF: Quincy 1, Lewis 0
Lewis was able to get its first shot on goal attempt at the 59:27 mark as Isabella Vargas (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) went on the attack but the Hawks' goalkeeper saved it. On Quincy's following possession, the Hawks drove the field and Lisa Albarran found Isabel Montileone as she found the back of the net for the goal.

The Flyers looked to respond in the 64th minute as Hadzic tried to tie it but it was saved. Culver looked to knot the score up at one a piece but went out top right. 

Quincy tried to double its lead in the next eight minutes with a pair of shots but one was saved by Nielsen and the other was off target. Lewis went on the attack at 78:32 as Aguilar recorded a shot on target but it was saved. 

Culver was able to get a shot on target as well in the 81st minute but her shot was also saved. The Flyers had one more chance to the the contest at the 84:09 mark in the game but Aguilar's shot was off target.

FINAL SCORE: Quincy 1, Lewis 0

UP NEXT
The Lewis women's soccer team earned the No. 4 seed in the GLVC Tournament after finishing fourth place in the GLVC standings and will host the quarterfinals against No. 5 seed Missouri-St. Louis Sunday, November 5. Time is TBA.
