ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Lewis men's tennis team traveled to the ITA Regionals Saturday-Monday hosted by Grand Valley State University.
Tatenda Mutetwa (Harare, Zimbabwe) advanced all the way to the round of 16 in Flight B after winning a pair of matches. Mutetwa defeated Amaan Tezabwala from Northwood University in a three set tiebreaker in the first round 2-6,7-6(5),10-8.
Mutetwa went on to defeat Kacper Pasielak of Ferris State in the round of 32 in another three-set tiebreaker 2-6,6-1,10-8. The sophomore eventually fell in the round of 16 to Freddy Cossio of Grand Valley State University 6-1,4-6,10-4

Indrek Soome (Pielavesi, Finland) advanced to the round of 32 in Flight A after defeating the number 1 seed Cedric Drenth from Wayne State 1-6,7-5,11-9. Soome was eliminated in the round of 32 after losing his match to Mathieu Derache from University of Indianapolis 6-7,6-4,10-3
Matias Parzajuk (Buenos Aires, Argentina) advanced to the round of 32 in Flight A after defeating Jan Stolin from Davenport University 6-2,4-6,12-10. Parzajuk was eliminated in the round of 32 by Yaroslav Sharyy of Drury University 6-4,6-2.
Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, Poland/Tennessee State) lost in his matchup in Flight B to Luka Kalenic of McKendree University 7-5,7-5.
In doubles flight A, Parzajuk and Soome won their round of 32 matchup against Northwood's Leon Grassnickel and Max Wild 8-6. The pair went on to defeat Mathieu Derache and Erwan Momo from University of Indianapolis 8-5. The Lewis duo were eliminated in the quaterfinals after losing to Daniel Grey and Cedric Drenth from Wayne State 8-5.
Grant Miller (Charlestown, Ind./Silver Creek) and
Brayden Bartecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) were narrowly defeated in the round of 16 in Flight C to Giacomo Valerga and Charlie Sanzo from Mckendree University 8-3
Lewis will be back in action October 13 at the Purdue Northwest Invitational Tournament.
