DETROIT -- The Lewis University men's basketball team was unable to come away with the victory Saturday (Nov. 18) as the Flyers fell to host Wayne State, 84-72, at Wayne State Field House.

HALF SUMMARY
FIRST HALF: Wayne State 39, Lewis 29
Both sides traded a pair of baskets to start the contest before Logan recorded the next four points to give Lewis an 8-4 lead early. Wayne State used a 10-2 run the next four minutes to grab a 14-13 lead.
Jamere Hill (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) gave Lewis a 15-14 lead before Wayne State went on a 9-2 run to grab a 23-17 advantage with 9:38 to go. The Flyers tried to crawl back into the game, but the Warriors kept building on its lead after going ahead 32-23 with 4:04 left.
Hill capped off a 6-2 run in the next two minutes to pull within five (34-29). Wayne State closed out the first half with a dunk and a three-pointer to make it 39-29 at the break.
SECOND HALF: Wayne State 45, Lewis 43
Both teams traded a pair of buckets to begin the second half before Wayne State converted a three-point play to give the Warriors a 47-33 lead. Frericks knocked down a three-pointer to try get the Flyers back in the game but Wayne State was one step ahead.
The Warriors went ahead 61-48 midway through the second half before back-to-back baskets by Frericks and Renfro cut it back down to single digits (61-52) with 8:48 to go in the game. Wayne State responded with more runs to build on its double-digit lead.
The closest Lewis got was nine, a pair of times down the stretch, but Wayne State continued to make it double digits throughout the rest of the game. Wayne State finshed off the win, 84-72.
