INDIANAPOLIS -- The Lewis University men's basketball team dropped its first conference contest of the year against Indianapolis, 90-76, at Nicoson Hall Saturday (Dec. 9).

SUMMARY
Indianapolis jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before Lewis responded with nine straight points including five from Vanderheydt. The Greyhounds looked to bounce back but the Flyers kept the lead.
Vanderheydt made it 16-11 with a jumper in the paint before UIndy scored five straight to tie it at 16. Frericks made the next basket before the Greyhounds made back-to-back shots to grab a 20-18 lead at the 10:09 mark in the first half.
Lewis then went on an 11-0 run to grab a 29-20 lead including back-to-back threes by
Anthony Sayles Jr. (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep) UIndy tried to respond and get back in the contest, scoring six straight points.
A basket by Kirciman made it 31-26 with under five minutes left in the first half, but UIndy went on a 8-2 run to grab a 34-33 lead. Lewis regained the lead and closed out the half after three baskets from Vanderheydt,
Jamere Hill (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) and an and-one from Solomon which made it 40-36.
Frericks started the second half with a basket for the Flyers before Indianapolis went on an 8-2 run to tie it at 44-all. Hill bounced back with a bucket before both sides traded a pair of threes.
Both teams traded baskets before Lewis went ahead 53-52 with 14:06 to go in the contest. The Greyhounds answered with seven straight points to take a 59-53 lead.
Solomon scored the next basket for the Flyers before UIndy got back-to-back buckets to go up by eight with under 11 minutes to play. Stroud got the next shot to fall for Lewis, but Indianapolis scored five straight for a 13-point lead.
Moments later, UIndy build its lead out to 18 (83-65) with under four minutes to play. The Greyhounds kept building its lead the rest of the contest and Lewis was unable to recover.
Colin Kenney (Michigan City, Ind./Marquette) hit a three-pointer late but it was already too late as the Greyhounds won 90-76. The Flyers shot 58.8 percent for the game (30-51) but committed 14 turnovers in the loss.
