ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University men's basketball team was unable to come away with the victory Thursday (Feb. 16) as the Flyers lost their contest to Southwest Baptist, 78-68.

SUMMARY
Southwest Baptist started the game 6-2 before Lewis responded with back-to-back three pointers by Frericks to make it quickly 8-6. Both teams traded the next few baskets before the Flyers got back-to-back threes from Hill and
Devon Vanderheydt (Washington, Ill./Washington) to make it 21-10 early.
The Bearcats were able to respond with seven straight points to make it 21-17 Lewis with 11:28 in the first half.
Vlado Zrnic (Greendale, Wis./Don Bosco Prep) responded with a basket for the Flyers to make it 23-17.
SWB went on a 7-1 run the next four minutes to tie the game with 4:57 to play before the break. Zrnic gave Lewis back the lead after making a basket.
Lewis was able to extend their lead out to 33-27 after a three-pointer by Vanderheydt and back-to-back baskets by Hill. The Bearcats beat the buzzer at the end of the first half as the Flyers led 38-36 at the break.
Both teams went back and forth to start the second half which made it 44-all. Hill recorded back-to-back baskets for a 48-44 lead.
Southwest Baptist bounced back with six straight points to grab a 50-48 lead.
Anthony Sayles Jr. (Evanston, Ill./Norte Dame Prep) got the answer right back with a three-point play to make it 51-50 in favor of Lewis.
The Bearcats went on a 10-2 run the next four minutes to grab a 60-51 lead with 8:26 left.
Elijah Williams (Lawrenceville, Ga./Illinois State) tried to get the Flyers back in the contest after making a three-pointer.
Moments later, Hill and Sayles made three-pointers to make it 74-66 with 2:43 to play. Southwest Baptist was able to close out the game and won 78-68.
