FORT WAYNE, Ind.  – The Lewis University men's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback on the road against Purdue Fort Wayne at Hilliard Gates Sports Center on Friday evening (Feb. 24).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Purdue Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 23

•  Both teams went back-and-forth to start the first set trading eight points each. 
• Purdue Fort Wayne rallied for three straight points to grab an 11-8 lead.
• The Flyers tried to get back in the set after a kill from Morgan made it 16-14 Mastodons but PFW scored three straight to grab a 19-14 advantage.
• Moments later, Lewis fought back again after Christian Prayer (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) recorded a kill to make it 22-21.
• PFW was able to hang on and win the first set 25-23.

SECOND SET: Purdue Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 12

• The second set was all Mastodons as PFW grabbed a 7-1 lead before Michael Sack (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence) recorded a kill to try to get the Flyers back in the set.
• Lewis fought back all the way to 8-6 in favor of Purdue Fort Wayne after another kill from Sack. 
• PFW went on a 11-2 rally to grab a 19-8 lead.
• Prayer tried to start a rally for Lewis after recording the ensuing kill but it was too late as PFW won 25-12 to grab a 2-0 lead.

THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Purdue Fort Wayne 13

•  Lewis responded by taking control of the third set by going up 5-1 early after an ace by Morgan.
• Purdue Fort Wayne responded and made it 12-9 in favor of the Flyers before Lewis got back-to-back points including a block from Max Roquet (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) and Antonio Elias-Rodriguez.
• The Flyers closed out the third set on an 11-4 rally to win the third set including three straight aces by Drolsum.

FOURTH SET: Purdue Fort Wayne 29, Lewis 27

• Lewis and Purdue Fort Wayne traded points early in the fourth set as the Flyers looked to force a winner-take-all fifth set.
• The Flyers got three straight points to grab a 9-7 lead after a kill from Roquet. 
• Moments later, Haber gave Lewis a 12-10 lead then PFW responded with three straight points.
• Lewis pulled back ahead with a 17-15 lead midway through the fourth set. 
• The Mastodons bounced back and grabbed a 23-21 advantage late in the fourth before the Flyers picked up three straight kills from Haber, Sack and Roquet.
• PFW ended the fourth set with back-to-back points and winning the set 29-27.

FINAL SCORE: Purdue Fort Wayne 3, Lewis 1
