lMANKATO, Minn. -- The Lewis University softball team split their final two games of Minnesota State Mankato Invite Saturday as the Flyers defeated Concordia-St. Paul, 2-0, before falling to Minnesota-Duluth in walk-off fashion, 5-4, at the Maverick All-Sports Dome.

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Lewis broke through in the opening inning after
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) picked up a hit then
Kenzie Murdock (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central High School) made it runners on the corners then
Sara Serena (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) had an RBI groundout.
The Flyers extended their lead out to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning after Garden scored her second run of the season.
Lewis had a scoring chance in the bottom of the fourth after having runners in scoring position but Concordia-St. Paul was able to escape the jam.
Garden shut the door in the seventh inning as the Flyers won 2-0. Garden recorded the complete game shutout after throwing seven scoreless frames, allowing only three hits, walking one and striking out one.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Lewis erupted early to start the game as the Flyers scored all four runs in the opening inning but unfournately that was the only runs for them.
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) started the scoring for Lewis after ripping an RBI single down the left field line which scored
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) from third.
Meghan Bontrager (Milford, IN/Northridge) extended the lead out to 3-0 after hitting a 2-RBI to right field which scored Graham and Serena.
Moments later, Bontrager made it 4-0 after she stole home in the first inning.
Minnesota Duluth responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning off starting pitcher Serena which made it 4-3 Lewis.Â
The very next inning the Bulldogs would tie the contest up at 4-all off relief pitcher
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School).

Lewis will be back in action Thursday, February 23 for the Midwest Region Dome Invitational hosted by the Flyers as the team takes on Saginaw Valley State at 3:30 p.m. then Wayne State at 6 p.m. CT.
