LEESBURG, Fla. -- The Lewis University softball team picked up big wins at THE Spring Games at Sleepy Hallow Softball Complex Friday (March 10) as the Flyers defeated Walsh 11-3 and shutout Saginaw Valley State 2-0.

SUMMARY
Lewis jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning after an errant throw by Walsh that scored Megan Bontrager.
Walsh responded with a three-run fifth after a trio of singles to make it 3-1.
The Flyers bounced back in a huge key as Lewis plated 10 runs in the bottom half of the inning to win by the eight-run rule.
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) and Bontrager started the scoring with back-to-back RBI singles to tie it at 3-3.
Kenzie Murdock (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central High School) and
Evie Calderon (Chicago, IL/Whitney Young) hit back-to-back singles, Bontrager scored on a wild pitch,
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) recorded a RBI single,
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) ripped a two-run single to left and
Sara Serena (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) ended the game with a two-run double.
Garden (4-2) got the win after going all five innings, giving up seven hits, allowing three runs, walking none and striking out seven.

SUMMARY
Lewis needed only two runs to come out victorious because Flyer starting pitcher
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) did her part in the circle.
Wondrasek (6-1) pitched a complete game shutout after allowing only two hits and striking out seven over seven frames.
Lewis scored its first run in the top of the opening frame after a sacrifice fly by Serena.
The Flyers got their second run of the contest the following inning after Garden ripped a RBI single to left.
