CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Lewis University softball team picked up two more wins in its final pair of games in THE Spring Games Saturday (March 11) against Southwest Minnesota State University 3-2 and Cedarville 7-0.
Game 1: Lewis 3, SMSU 2

SUMMARY
Southwest Minnesota State University scored first with a run in the bottom of the second inning to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Mustangs scored their second run in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 2-0.
Lewis would enter the run column in the top of the fifth after scoring three runs and taking a 3-2 lead.
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) ripped an RBI double which scored
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora) then Garden ended up scoring on a SMSU miscue and
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) drove home
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) with her RBI single to give the Flyers the lead.
Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) (3-1) picked up the win in the circle,after allowing two earned runs, giving up nine hits, issuing two walks and throwing a strikeout in seven innings.

SUMMARY
Lewis shutout the Yellow Jackets scoring seven in the victory behind the pitching efforts of Garden (5-2) after she only gave up four hits and striking out four over seven frames.
Sara Serena (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) started the scoring in the first inning with a RBI single which scored Powell.
In the second inning,
Toni Rodriguez (Chicago, IL/Nazareth Academy) and
Carrie Anderson (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah Community) scored thanks to a Nilles two-run double. Nilles would then score after a sacrifice fly by Garden.
Powell scored again in the fourth after a Serena RBI single made it 5-0. Serena would steal second and Graham stole home to make it 6-0.
Serena would score the final run after an RBI single by
Meghan Bontrager (Milford, IN/Northridge).

Lewis will have its home opener Wednesday March 15 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in a double-header against Ferris State University.
