AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Lewis University baseball team was unable to come away with the victory Saturday (March 11) as the Flyers fell in its Florida finale against Minnesota Crookston 2-1 at Lake Myrtle Park.

Minnesota Crookston jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) was able to tie the game in the top of the fourth after connecting on his third home run of the season.
The Golden Eagles responded back with a run of its own to make it 2-1 and that score would hold.

Shane Gorman (Orland Park, Ill./Br. Rice) (0-3) took the loss on the mound after going six innings, allowing two runs (one earned), walking five and striking out eight.
Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) threw two scoreless innings for the Flyers after pitching in the seventh and eighth while only allowing one base runner and striking out four.

Lewis will be back in action next weekend as the Flyers begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Brennan Field against the reigning conference champions Illinois-Springfield for a four-game series beginning Friday, March 17 at 2 p.m.
