LEBANON, Ill. – The Lewis University softball team fell to McKendree in a doubleheader Monday (March 20) 13-1 in five innings and 5-0 at Bearcat Field. The Flyers fall to 17-10 and 0-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

SUMMARY
In the opening inning, McKendree's Heaven Lawrence recorded a leadoff home run. McKendree extended its lead in the second inning posting seven runs, making the score 8-0.

Lewis'
Carrie Anderson (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah Community) crushed a home run to center field, recording the first hit and score for the Flyers in the top of the third inning.

However, McKendree scored five more runs over the next two innings to hold a double-digit lead after four innings of play. In the fifth inning, McKendree's infield made three defensively plays to end the game.

SUMMARY
McKendree scored three times in the first inning to take the early lead. Lewis made strides at cutting into the lead, posting four hits in five innings, but couldn't manage to score a run.

In the bottom of the fifth, McKendree added two more runs with two base hits, followed with two stolen bases for a 5-0 advantage.

Lewis threatened at the top of the seventh inning with a single by
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) and
Grace Erickson (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central) but a fly out by
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) would ultimately end the game.
