Lewis Women’s Lacrosse Picks Up Road Win Against Colorado State University Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Lewis University women's lacrosse team picked up its second win of its Colorado road trip 14-12 Wednesday (March 8) against Colorado State University Pueblo.

QUARTER BREAKDOWN
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 4, CSU Pueblo 1
  • Lewis opened the contest in commanding fashion, scoring the first four goals.
  • Serritella opened the game with the first of her four goals.
  • Bowen and Davidson recorded goals two and three in a two-minute time frame.
  • Serritella would score her second goal at the 11:40 mark.
  • CSU Pueblo would make its first goal of the contest before the end of the first period with 1:42 left.
SECOND QUARTER: CSU Pueblo 4, Lewis 3
  • Serritella would strike first again scoring the fifth goal for the Flyers and her third goal.
  • After a CSU Pueblo goal, Procyk scored the Flyers' sixth goal at the 4:07 mark of the second period.
  • CSU Pueblo would answer with the next two goals.
  • Emma Stanek (Lakeville, MN/Lakeville North) would score goal number seven bringing the lead back to three at 7-4.
  • CSU Pueblo drew closer again scoring their fifth goal with 1:51 left on the clock before the end of the second to make it 7-5.
THIRD QUARTER: CSU Pueblo 4, Lewis 3
  • The third period opened with CSU Pueblo scoring the first two goals of the quarter, tying the contest at 7-7.
  • Lewis would regain the lead on a Wintenik goal, putting the Flyers up 8-7.
  • CSU Pueblo would go on to score the next two goals to take the lead for the first time in the game.
  • Heidi Sweeney (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada/New Westminster) would tie the game at nine apiece with the Flyers taking the lead 10-9 thanks to a goal by Bowen on a free position shot.
FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 4, CSU Pueblo 3
  • Serritella's fourth goal of the game would be the first of the fourth quarter and would extend the Flyer lead to 11-9.
  • CSU Pueblo answered 15 seconds later to bring the game back within one point and would then score shortly after to tie.
  • Lewis took control back after goals from Bowen, Davidson, and Stanek to take a 14-11 lead.
  • CSU Pueblo made one last effort scoring with two minutes remaining to make it 14-12.
