Lewis Softball Splits Final Doubleheader of Regular Season Sunday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Lewis University softball team split its doubleheader against Drury in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader Sunday.

Drury 25-25 overall, 13-11 GLVC | Lewis 32-17 overall, 14-10 GLVC

SUMMARY
GAME 1: Lewis 3, Drury 2
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) started the scoring after grounding out in the third which scored Grace Erickson (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central).

Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) extended the lead to 2-0 after a RBI groundout, scoring Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora)

Drury tied it in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run. 

Lewis regained the lead the next inning after Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) hit a sacrifice fly which scored Graham. 

Sara Serena (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) led Lewis with two hits. 

Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) (14-6) recorded the victory in the circle, giving up four hits and allowing two runs, striking out three over seven innings of work.

Game 2: Drury 2, Lewis 1
Drury scored first in the bottom of the second inning to grab a 1-0 lead. 

The Panthers doubled its lead the following inning to make it 2-0. 

Lewis got a run back in the sixth inning after Powell singled up the middle which scored Graham. 

Graham led the Flyers with two hits in the game. 

Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) (10-5) suffered the loss after allowing  and striking out 10.

Lewis will travel to East Peoria, Ill. at Eastside Centre for the GLVC Tournament and take on No. 3 seed McKendree Thursday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m.
