The Cardians opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first, but a sacrifice fly from Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) in the bottom of the inning evened the score.

William Jewell added three more runs in the second inning to pull ahead 4-1. Lewis responded in the bottom of the third off the bat once again by Krol as his single drove home Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) to make it 4-2.

Lewis evened the score in the fourth inning. Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) started the rally with a single to left, scoring Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin). Barry then reached on a fielder's choice, which scored Fox to tie the game.

The lead went back to William Jewell with a run in the fifth, but again Lewis tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with a Barry single that scored Keaty.

It remained tied till the ninth when the Cardinals used a sacrifice fly to take a 6-5 lead.

With their backs against the wall, the Flyers rallied one more time in the ninth to load the bases. Fox deliverd, driving home the tying and winning runs with a single up the middle for a 7-6 win.

Fox finished with three hits and three RBI, while Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly), Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic), Barry, Krol and Keaty all had two hits each.

AJ Casmer (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) (2-0) picked up the win, pitching the ninth inning, allowing one hit and one earned run. Jackson Brown (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) went two innings in relief, allowing one hit and one unearned run, while Collin Amsden (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) pitched three shutout innings, allowing three hits in relief.

Game 2: Lewis 6, William Jewell 3
Lewis struck first with a run in the first on a Cantelo groundout, which scored Fox. William Jewell evened the score in the third, but Cantelo came back with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third which again scored Fox to give Lewis a 2-1 lead.

Fox and Alt added RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 4-1 Lewis advantage. The Cardinals scored twice in the fifth to make it a 4-3 game.
