SUMMARY
William Jewell opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.

George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) came back in the bottom of the third with a home run to tie the score and then a  double by Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) later in the inning scored Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) and Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead. Cherokee LeBeau (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) then singled home Cantelo and Lewis led 4-1 after three.

The Cardinals tallied a run in the fourth inning and three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead.

Lewis came back in the seventh as Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) led off the inning with a single and Cantelo followed with a double. That set up back-to-back sacrifice flies from Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) and Tony Fleischauer (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) to give the Flyers a 6-5 lead.

William Jewell had two runners on in the eighth but failed to score and with two outs in the ninth inning had a ball hit to the warning track in right field where it was caught, ending the game.

Bilecki had three hits to lead the Flyers, while Alt, Cantelo, LeBeau and Keaty all had two hits. Matt Piento (Indian Head Park, Ill./Lyons) (1-2) came on in relied to earn the win, going 2.1 innings, allowing 2 hits and no runs.
