ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University softball team swept its doubleheader against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Missouri-St. Louis at Lewis Softball Field Saturday (April 8). The Flyers won the first game 7-1 and won the second game 4-2.

GAME 1: Lewis 7, UMSL 1
Carrie Anderson (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah Community) started the scoring in the bottom of the second with a RBI triple which scored
Sara Serena (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee).
Lewis brought out the power in the third inning after
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) hit a two-run home run scoring
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora). Serena hit the second home run of the inning which made it 4-0.
Graham continued her big game with a two-run double in the fourth inning which scored
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) and Nilles to make it 6-0. Graham went around and scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 7-0.
UMSL scored its lone run in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly.
Garden (8-6) recorded the victory in the circle after only giving up one run, allowing seven hits and striking out in seven innings of work.
GAME 2: Lewis 4, UMSL 2
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) started the scoring in the second game after ripping a RBI double to right which scored Garden to make it 1-0 in the first. Serena connected on her second home run of the day later that inning which made it 3-0.
The Tritons got one back in the second inning which made it 3-1. Lewis got the run back in the bottom half after Graham singled home Garden for a 4-1 lead.
UMSL scored one in the seventh with a solo home run to make it 4-2 Lewis.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) (7-4) recorded her seventh win of the season after going all seven frames, allowing five hits, giving up two runs, issuing one walk and striking out six.

Lewis will be back in action Tuesday, April 11 in non-conference action as the Flyers host Purdue Northwest for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
