ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University softball team split its non-conference doubleheader against Purdue Northwest at Lewis Softball Field Tuesday (April 11). The Flyers won the first game 7-0 and lost the second 3-2.

GAME 1: Lewis 7, Purdue Northwest 0
Lewis scored five runs in the third inning to make it 5-0.
Sara Serena (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) singled to left, which brought home
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora).
Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) singled up the middle scoring
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) to make it 2-0.
Carrie Anderson (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah Community) doubled the lead with a two-run double, which made it 4-0.
Kenzie Murdock (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central High School) wrapped up the big inning with a sacrifice fly which scored Wuske.
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) extended the lead to 6-0 in the fourth inning after ripping a RBI single left which scored
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School).
Murdock connected on her first home run of the season in the fifth inning, which gave Lewis a 7-0 lead.
Garden (9-5) recorded the victory in the circle after pitching seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight.
GAME 2: Purdue Northwest 3, Lewis 2
Lewis struck first in the third inning after Powell ripping a RBI single left, which scored Garden to make it 1-0.
PNW responded with three runs in the fourth and fifth inning to grab a 3-1 lead.
The Flyers rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning after Graham connected on her third home run of the season.
Moments later, Lewis loaded the bases but the Pride were able to escape further damage and held the Flyers off the scoreboard.
Wuske (4-3) suffered the defeat in the circle after going four innings, allowing six hits, giving up three runs (one earned), walking two and striking out five.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) pitched three spotless innings in relief.

Lewis will be back in action Saturday, April 15 as the Flyers travel to William Jewell for a doubleheader starting at noon.
