QUINCY, Ill. – The Lewis University men's volleyball team defeated Quincy 3-1 in its regular season finale on Saturday evening (April 8).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Quincy 25, Lewis 19
- To start the regular season finale for both teams, they traded the first six points before Lewis was able to put together the first run of the game.
- The Flyers recorded a 6-1 run, that included a kill from Roquet, Michael Sack (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence) and two kills from Cole Brillhart (York, Pa./Northeastern).
- The Lewis five-point advantage would be evaporated by the middle of the set after Quincy went on a 4-0 run to tie the set at 13.
- Quincy put together another stretch of four unanswered points to take the lead and would notch two kills in the end to earn the victory in the opening set.
SECOND SET: Lewis 25, Quincy 23
- After an ace by Prayer to start the second set, Brillhart, Roquet and Sack all recorded one kill each to help Lewis get out to a 7-3 early lead.
- The Flyers were able to hold off Quincy majority of the second set and even earned its largest lead of six after a Eddie Jakubauskas ace.
- Quincy was able to tie the set at 23, but Lewis came out victorious after a Roquet kill and an attack error by the Hawks.
THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Quincy 23
- With two kills from both Prayer and Roquet early in the set, Lewis was able to get out to a 5-3 lead.
- From that point forward, Quincy would take the lead at 7-6 but the Flyers would go on a 4-0 run to retake the lead with the help of two attack errors by the Hawks and a kill by Roquet and Tyler Simpson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park).
- Trailing by as much as four in the set, Quincy was able to cut the lead down to one but a pivotal service error by the Hawks helped Lewis earn their second straight set win.
- The Flyers recorded a .385 hitting percentage in the third set compared to Quincy who posted a .182 hitting percentage.
FOURTH SET: Lewis 25 , Quincy 19
- The fourth set began in similar fashion to the first with Lewis and Quincy trading the first 16 points before the Flyers were able to record three straight kills to take an 11-8 lead.
- After a Quincy timeout, the Hawks would notch two kills and took advantage of two Lewis errors to take the lead at 12-11.
- Tied at 13, the Flyers would score six of the next eight points to retake a four-point lead that they would inevitably hold onto.
- Holding a four-point advantage, Lewis came out of a timeout late in the set scored two quick points to win its final regular season game of the season.
FINAL SCORE: Lewis 3, Quincy 1
