Lewis charged out of the gate, with five shots, including three on goal, in the first 11 minutes, but none made it across the goal line.

Darlage had the game's opening goal at the 31:46 mark, sending a shot from the left side of the goal box off the right post and into the back of the net. Carlback assisted with a long lead pass that Darlage ran down before the Southwest Baptist defense could reach it.

The Bearcats managed to fire off two shots in the final 10 minutes of the half, with one on goal. Doppelhofer made the save, though, with the Flyers holding strong for the 1-0 halftime lead and a commanding 12-2 advantage in shots.

SECOND HALF: Lewis 1, SBU 0
Lewis had a free kick opportunity deep in the SBU zone early in the second half and took advantage. Bogers took the free kick, and Gorodnickis chipped in the goal at the 49:28 mark to extend the Flyers' lead to 2-0.

Action settled down after that, until the final 20 minutes when Southwest Baptist fired off four shots, with two on goal. Higgins saved both shots, and Lewis was able to secure the victory.
