ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team shut out William Jewell, 4-0, Friday (Sept. 22) at Lewis Stadium to move to 2-0-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Godwin Asore (Kumasi, Ghana/Putnam Science Academy) led the Flyers with a goal and two assists.

HALF BREAKDOWN
FIRST HALF: Lewis 2, WJC 0
William Jewell had an early opportunity, with a corner kick in the third minute that led to a shot in the fourth, but it went wide. Holzer had the first shot on goal in the match later that minute, but the save was made.

Both teams took two corners over the next 20 minutes, but neither side was able to score until Holzer struck on a feed from Asore at the 23:00 mark. Doppelhofer was tested for the first time in the 27th minute and made the save.

Bogers added to the Flyers' lead at the 37:21 mark with a blast off of a free kick opportunity. Lewis held a 10-5 advantage in shots at the half.

SECOND HALF: Lewis 2, WJC 0
The Flyers charged out of the locker room, with Asore scoring at the 48:58 mark. The junior's strike came off of an assist by Gorodnickis.

Doppelhofer made his third save of the match diving to his right to stop a shot from the Cardinals in the 50th minute. Stampley then made it 4-0 with a goal from the right side of the box at the 51:25 mark after a pass from Asore.

Both teams recorded two shots on goal the rest of the way, but none got past either goalkeeper.
