ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team defeated Rockhurst 2-0 Sunday (Sept. 24) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest. It was the third straight win and fifth straight shutout for the Flyers.

HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Lewis 0, Rockhurst 0
The first half was a defensive struggle as the first shot didn't occur until the 20th minute when a shot on goal from the Hawks was saved by Doppelhofer.
Rockhurst got the next two shots off before Lewis recorded a pair of shots from Asore, both of which were saved in the 38th and 39th minute, respectively. Another save by Doppelhofer in the 44th minute kept the score tied at the break.
Second Half: Lewis 2, Rockhurst 0
The two teams each had a shot on goal in the first 15 minutes of the half before Lewis began to control the play. It tallied three shots in the next 10 minutes with one on goal from Perez.
Lewis broke through at the 72:56 mark when Gorodnickis scored with an assist from Perez.
Rockhurst came back with the next three shots, two of which were on goal and saved by Doppelhofer. The teams traded shots on goal before Bogers found the net on a pass from Asore at the 82:49 mark. The Lewis defense held from there, not allowing another Hawk shot.
