Lewis Women's Soccer Defeats William Jewell 4-2 For Second Straight GLVC Win

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's soccer team defeated William Jewell 4-2 Friday (Sept. 22) for its second straight Great Lake Valley Conference win.

HALF BREAKDOWN

First Half: Lewis 2, William Jewell 2
Both teams put up multiple shots in the first 10 minutes with Lewis breaking the ice with the first goal in the 10th minute of the contest as Aguilar scored with an assist from Culver.

The Cardinals came right back with a goal in the 14th minute and then took the lead at the 23:56 mark to take a 2-1 lead.

In the 36th minute the Flyers got a pair of shots off from Carlie Burns (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) and Culver before Hadzic evened the score at the 36:04 mark in the half.

Second half: Lewis 2, William Jewell 0
Harvey started the half strong for Lewis with a shot in the upper left corner of the goal on a free kick in the first minute, but the shot was turned away. Harvey had another shot saved in the 58th minute and Culver added a shot on goal in the 69th minute.

Lewis put three more shots on goal before a foul in the box on Culver led to a penalty kick goal from Aguilar to break the tie.

The Flyers added an insurance goal from Hadzic in the 87th minute to put the game away.

Final score: Lewis 4, William Jewell 2
