ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's soccer team defeated Rockhurst 1-0 Sunday (Sept. 24) for its third straight Great Lake Valley Conference win.

HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Lewis 1, Rockhurst 0
Lewis went on the attack early after recording four shots in the first 10 minutes but three were off target and one was saved. A few minutes later, Rockhurst tried to respond but their shot was off target.
Both teams traded shots in the 17th and 18th minutes but neither were on target.
The Flyers were able to break through in the 21st minute after Pinto found Culver who found Hadzic as the junior connected and found the back of the net for her third goal this weekend. The Hawks tried to knot it up in the 25th minute but Nielsen recorded the save.
Lewis tried to build on its lead in the 31st and 32nd minute with three shot attempts but two were saved and one was off target. The Flyers had two more shots in the last five minutes by Culver and Hadzic but none were on target.
Rockhurst tried to sneak a goal in right before the break after going on the attack but both were off target.
Second half: Lewis 0, Rockhurst 0
The Hawks recorded the first three shots of the second half in the first seven minutes but all were off target. Rockhurst had a chance to tie it up in the 56th minute but its penalty kick was saved by Nielsen.
Rockhurst had more scoring chances throughout the half but were unable to connect on any of them.
Timea Rojnik (Bratislava, Slovakia/British Internnational) looked to double the Lewis lead in the 69th minute but her shot went out left.
RU had 10 more shots the rest of the game but were not able to connect as Nielsen recorded three saves.

Lewis will be back in action Friday, September 29 as the Flyers travel to Lebanon, Ill. to take on McKendree starting at 5 p.m.
