HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Lewis 2, Springfield 1
There were many eyes on the start of Sunday's game as the rankings of the GLVC hung in the balance. Coming off of a win against conference rival UIndy, the Flyers began the game with the same offensive intensity they have shown all season. The Praire Stars were threatening early with back to back corner kicks and a few offside calls. 16 minutes into the game a smooth pass by A. Gorodnickis found Revell, who put one past the Springfield keeper, giving Lewis a one goal lead.
Play resumed and once again Springfield found themselves deep into their offensive zone. The Flyers fought them off and move the ball back in the direction, Revell already with one goal in this game streamed a pass to Stampley who put another shot into the back of the nylon. Lewis did give up an own goal which cause the lead to be cut in half, but the Flyers went into halftime with a head full of steam.
Second Half: Lewis 0, Springfield 0
The second half began with physical soccer as Lewis tried to walk away with a win, and Springfield with a better conference standing. Half number two was a battle of midfield attrition as neither team could get a deep or long possession in their offensive zone.
The only shot on goal the Praire Stars had during the second half was a liner to the bottom right corner, which saved by Doppelhofer. Lewis kept the lead locked heading into the final buzzer and walked away with a match victory, and a GLVC Regular Season Championship.
Final Score: Lewis 2, Springfield 1
