GAME SUMMARY
The final game of the GLVC/GMAC Challenge began from the Tiffin free throw line, after one made attempt, Warden with a close shot gave Lewis their first point of the night. The Dragons hoisted up a good three which was followed by Gibson putting up a three of his own for his first shot attempt of the night. Warden and Renfro continued to attack downhill with alot of interior play making and ball movement. Then
Rob Stroud (Danville, Ill./Kankakee CC), coming off a great night the previous game, moved down the baseline and went up for a reverse slam for the highlight.
The Flyers missed a few shots and turned the ball over in the next few minutes but a three by Warden and a layup by
Cem Kirciman (Istanbul, Turkey/Wisconsin-Green Bay) got the scoring going again for Lewis. With the game tied at 18 with a little over ten minutes to go in the first, Stroud hit a big three of the kick out by Kirciman to give the Flyers another lead.
The only basket over the next three minutes was a free throw made by Lewis big man
Bartosz Kapustka (Poland/Orchard Lake St. Mary's). The Flyers got the gears rolling again with a bucket by warden and four points by Gibson. Lewis worked their way to the free throw line near the end of the half and with layups from Gibson and
Devon Vanderheydt (Washington, Ill./Washington) gave Lewis a double digit lead. heading into the locker room.
With a ten point lead at the start of the second half, Vanderheydt on the fast break was fouled in the act of shooting and went to the line for two made free throws. Warden had back to back points for the Flyers coming off of a clean three and a outback layup.
The Flyers continued to expand their lead off of offensive rebounds and second chance points, Stroud with a tip-in off his own miss made the game 45-31 Lewis lead. Stroud put up a few more points along with Kirciman and after recently checking in
Destin Logan (College Park, Ga./Skills Factory Prep) was quickly fouled and went to the line fore two and made them both. Lewis was dedicated to hitting their free throws in the second half, Destin, Vanderheydt, Kirciman, Warden, Stroud and Gibson nearly went perfect from the free throw line in the second half missing the last attempt taken.
73-64 was the score at the final buzzer and the Flyers walked away with their second win in as many days.
