ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Assistant Vice President of Athletics, John Ashaolu, announced this week a record-breaking Annual Athletics Crowdfunding Campaign this year. 
The Annual Athletics Crowdfunding Campaign supporting the athletic team's annual funds ran from September 1 through November 30 and raised a historic high of $240,000 from more than 530 donors during that time period. 

"On behalf of Lewis University Athletics, we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from our donors, supporters and our alums," said Ashaolu. "The success of this annual campaign mirrors the success that our athletic teams are having at the highest level of Division II athletics.  This recording-breaking year and growth of the campaign are a testament to the passion and commitment of the Lewis community to support a winning program."

With a lead matching gift from basketball alum and Chair of Lewis University Board of Trustees Tim Ferrarell '79 '83, the campaign reached new heights as coaches, players, alumni, parents and many others supported Lewis' athletic teams. 

The annual crowdfunding campaign helps launch the year-round fundraising efforts that takes place for Lewis athletics in partnership with University Advancement. The Athletic Annual Funds help maintain the resources necessary to be one of the top Division II athletic programs in the nation. In order to have strong athletic teams while also providing an affordable education for all, Lewis University must continue to work with donors to maintain and grow support for athletic programs.   

"As we continue to work with John and the coaches on increasing the Annual Funds to athletics, our hope is to build a strong donor and alumni base who can help us dream big about future growth in facilities and equipment that match the elite nature of our players and coaches," Tyler Mitchell, University Advancement's Athletic Gift Officer said.

Every gift made to the campaign contributes to helping create the best student-athlete experience for Lewis athletes and to building an even stronger athletic and educational foundation.
