ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Lewis University women's basketball won their sixth straight and third conference game in a row on Saturday (Dec. 7) against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

GAME SUMMARY
The game started slow with a few missed shots from both teams but Bueno hit a layup to start the scoring off for the two squads. McNamee hit a layup and then a jumper on a later trip down the floor. Lewis kept the interior play going with a mid range jumpers from Gugliuzza and
Kree Nunnally (Crystal Lake, Ill./Example Academy). First quarter ended 12-10 with the Flyers in the lead.
Lewis lost the lead in the second quarter but it was the only quarter of the four where they were outscored by UMSL. Gugliuzza, Taylor, went one of two from a trip to the free throw line and
Tara Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) hit a layup the next trip down the floor.
Lewis was trailing and worked the game back to being tied at a 21-21 score thanks to a free throw from McNamee and a layup by
Taylor Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West). Lewis finished off the quarter with layups from Cesarini and Gugliuzza, Taylor. The Flyers went into the locker room down by five with a score of 30-25.
UMSL started off with a steal and a few points to expand their lead to nine. Cesarini scored the first second half points for Lewis off a jumper and McNamee followed with one of her own on the next possession.
Lewis tied the game at 34 and went back down by three after a few UMSL buckets. Gugliuzza, Taylor cut it back down to two after a free throw. The Flyers eventually took back the lead off of a good trip to the line from Bueno. Tied at 42 UMSL was able to get a one point lead heading into the final quarter with a score of 43-42.
Lewis held UMSL to seven points in the fourth quarter but it was a back and forth quarter right up to the end. Badali started off with a layup to give Lewis the lead but it was taken away a few minutes later. Bueno executed the and one play off a layup to take the lead back.
With the game tied at 47, a McNamee layup and a UMSL three put Lewis down by one once more. That was the last bucket for UMSL as the Flyer defense came up strong. Along with
Taylor Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) and McNamee hitting mid range shots, McNamee iced the game with a three with 21 seconds remaining and Lewis walked away with the 56-50 victory.
