QUINCY, Ill. – The No. 15 Lewis University men's volleyball team swept Quincy, 3-0, Tuesday (Feb. 20) to snap a three-match losing streak. Sophomore
Nathan DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Penn./Seneca Valley HS) tied his career-high in kills with 8, and set a new personal best in service aces with two, in the win.

SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: Lewis 29, Quincy 27
Quincy started fast, going up 4-1 and stayed in the lead early until the Hawks held a 9-5 advantage. Lewis roared back with a 4-0 run as DeGraaf had a solo block to tie it at nine.
The Hawks then pulled back ahead with a 3-0 burst but the Flyers got back even with a 6-3 charge to make it 15-15. Later, Lewis grabbed the lead with a 4-0 push fueled by three consecutive attack errors by Quincy to make it 21-18 Flyers.
Lewis was ahead, 23-20, when the Hawks took three crucial points in a row to tie it. Quincy later reached set point three times, but the Flyers had the answer each time and finished the set with a 3-0 run including a kill by Roquet and a block from Morgan and Wymoczyl.
Set 2: Lewis 25, Quincy 22
The second set started out tight, with the score tied 5-5 early. Two kills by
Michael Sack (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence) helped Lewis on a 3-0 run to take the 8-5 lead.
Later, Roquet earned a kill and solo block to bring the Flyers' advantage to 11-7. Things went back-and-forth from there until DeGraaf got a kill and followed it with a pair of aces to make it 17-12 Lewis and prompt a Quincy timeout.
The Hawks came out strong after the timeout, taking a 6-3 charge to get back within two points at 20-18. The Flyers recovered and held off the charge from Quincy, though, finishing the second set on a kill by Sack.
Set 3: Lewis 25, Quincy 21
Lewis came out looking to finish strong in set three, taking a 4-0 lead with a kill and solo block by Wymoczyl in the early going. The Flyers kept the Hawks at arm's reach until a 5-1 charge from Quincy cut Lewis' lead to just one, 11-10.
Three straight kills from the Hawks later gave Quincy its first lead of the set, 15-14, prompting the Flyers to take a timeout. Lewis took the next two points including a kill by Sack, but the Hawks kept pushing and regained the lead at 18-17.
The Flyers smelled blood, though, and capped off a 3-0 run with a solo block by Roquet, later using another 3-0 run with kills by Roquet and
Christian Prayer (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) to go ahead 24-20. Wymoczyl got the kill to finish off the victory for Lewis.
The Flyers hit .404 in the match, its fourth time topping .400 in attack percentage this season and first time in MIVA play.
