The Flyers came back with seven straight points behind five from Hilber to retake the lead 13-8. A conventional three-point play by Gabrielle Hoover (Mishawaka, Ind./La Lumiere) and a three-pointer by Badali gave Lewis a 19-13 advantage after the first quarter.

Another three by Badali to start the second quarter and a basket by Tara Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) made it 24-13 Flyers. The Flyers steadily continued to build the lead and a Lily Courier (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) jumper made it 40-25 at the half.

A Hilber three-pointer a minute into the third quarter made it 45-27 Flyers. Hilber's free throws and basket extended the lead to 53-31 midway through the third.

The Hawks answered with 11 straight points to cut the deficit to 53-42 before a Tay. Gugliuzza free throw and Courier jumper stopped the run. A Badali three-pointer and Courier layup gave Lewis a 63-44 advantage after three quarters.
