ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Lewis University softball team ended its 2024 Dome Invitational on a strong note as the Flyers defeated Parkside 7-0 Sunday (Feb. 25).

Meghan Bontrager (Milford, IN/Northridge) started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning after ripping a 2-run single which plated
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) and
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) to make it 2-0 Flyers. Two batters later, Wuske extended the Lewis lead to 3-0 after reaching on an error which scored
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School).
Two innings later, Wuske made it 4-0 after an RBI single right up the middle scoring
Evie Calderon (Chicago, IL/Whitney Young) from second. Lewis kept adding to its lead in the third inning as
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora) made it third and first with two outs.
Garden provided herself two insurance runs after ripping a two-run triple down the left field line to make it 6-0. Lewis tacked on one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning after Wuske recorded her second RBI of the game with a double which drove home
Mackenzie Sheehan (Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove).
Garden (3-2) recorded her second straight complete game shutout without issuing a walk as the junior threw all seven innings, allowing eight hits and striking out 11.
