Lewis Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Tiffin at Home Tuesday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University men's lacrosse team beat Tiffin, 27-2, Tuesday at Lewis Stadium. It was the Flyers' second straight blowout win of 20+ goals.

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 10, Tiffin 0
Lewis got rolling early with 10 unanswered goals in the first quarter. Boyenko scored first for the Flyers, off the assist from Clement, at the 13:44 mark. Ruskoski made it 2-0, scoring with a man up after an assist from Malikye Good (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic HS).

Clement added a goal of his own at the 7:40 mark off the pass from Boyenko and Boyenko later scored twice in a row in under 10 seconds with assists from Good on the first and Tarello on the second. At the 3:59 mark, Boyenko found the back of the net again after a feed from Andrew Schermerhorn (Appleton, Wisconsin/St. Francis Xavier HS / Canisius College) to make it 6-0.

Just six seconds later, Good struck with a goal after taking a pass from Boyenko and Dominic Bravata (Portage, Michigan/Portage Northern HS) got on the board at the 1:37 mark, assisted by Clement. With exactly one minute remaining, Boyenko scored another goal, with the assist going again to Clement, who then finished the scoring with a goal off his own off an assist from Schermerhorn.

SECOND QUARTER: Lewis 5, Tiffin 1
The Flyers started the scoring in the second with Ruskoski finding the back of the net with Lewis a man up after a pass from Good. Tiffin then got its first goal of the game at the 9:20 mark.

Just over a minute later, Clement scored as the Flyers had the advantage again with an assist from Drew Andre (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada/Pitt Meadows Secondary School). The offense quieted down for a bit before Ruskoski scored on another man advantage opportunity for Lewis with an assist from Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) at the 2:49 mark.

Off the ensuing faceoff, Good scored after getting the ball from Clement. With just 16 seconds before halftime, AJ Baumley (Huntley, Illinois/Huntley HS) notched the first goal of his collegiate career after an assist by Clement to make the halftime score 15-1 Lewis. Riah Rathe (Chanhassen, Minnesota/Chanhassen HS) made three saves in the period.

THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 6, Tiffin 0
The Flyers once again blanked the Dragons for a full quarter, scoring all six goals of the frame. Zach Buddelmeyer (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro HS) opened the scoring at the 13:13 mark off the assist from Baumley. Kology got himself on the board at the 11:37 mark, adding another goal with 7:38 remaining in the quarter.

Dylan Hines (San Diego, California/Poway HS / Harford Community College) added to the Lewis total with a goal at the 3:39 mark and Ruskoski made it 20-1 with a goal after an assist from Kology with 1:01 remaining. Buddelmeyer scored again to finish the quarter with an assist from Joe Janda (Livonia, Michigan/St. Mary's Preparatory HS / University of Detroit Mercy). Donahue made four saves in the quarter, stopping every shot he faced.

FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 6, Tiffin 1
Tiffin scored in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, but it was all Flyers after that. Nate McLean (Crystal Lake, Illinois/Crystal Lake Central HS) scored with Lewis a man up off an assist from Dylan Kendrick (Chanhassen, Minnesota/Chanhassen HS) to make it 22-2 at the 11:39 mark.

Ruskoski scored again with 10:45 left to play and Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS) scored with the advantage at the 9:43 mark after an assist from Kendrick. With the Flyers holding a man advantage again, Schermerhorn scored off of another assist by Kendrick with 8:21 remaining.

Kendrick scored a goal of his own at the 3:55 mark and Riley Paulus (Eagan, Minnesota/Eagan HS) scored just 15 seconds later with an assist from Kology to finish the scoring in the game. Anthony Luczak (Arlington Heights, Illinois/St. Viator HS / Milwaukee School of Engineering) made one save in the fourth for Lewis.

FINAL SCORE: Lewis 27, Tiffin 2
