AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Lewis University softball team defeated Lake Erie 3-1 before defeating Purdue Northwest 4-2 Sunday (March 10).

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Lewis broke through in the second inning after putting up a three spot in the frame.
Meghan Bontrager (Milford, IN/Northridge) started the inning with a single,
Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) and
Grace Kmak (Mokena, Ill.) also singled to load the bases.
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) cleared the bases with a bases-clearing double to make it 3-0. Lake Erie got one back in the bottom of the sixth after connecting on one over the wall.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) (4-0) pitched all seven innings against the Storm, allowing one run, giving up three hits, issuing three walks and striking out five.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Lewis struck first in the opening inning with a two spot in the frame. Kmak started the threat with a double then
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) drove her home with a double of her make it 1-0.
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) extended the lead out to 2-0 after hitting a sacrifice fly which scored Powell from third.
Purdue Northwest responded with a pair of runs of its own to tie the contest at 2-2. Lewis got the two runs right back in bottom half of the frame to take a 4-2 lead.
Powell came through with a two-run single to right center which scored Kmak and
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School).
Garden (4-2) recorded the win after going seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned), scattering six hits and striking out four.
