Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) extended the Flyers lead to 3-0 in the fifth after connecting on a two-run single which scored Gabi Nillies and Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School)

Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) got an insurance run in the top of the sixth after hitting a sacrifice fly, scoring Bontrager. The fourth run turned out to be a crucial run for Lewis.

Shepherd rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Rams plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Garden was able to escape further damage and get the ground out to secure the victory.

Garden (5-2) recorded the complete game victory after going all seven frames, giving up four hits, allowing three runs, issuing two walks and striking out nine.

GAME 1: IU-P 3, Lewis 2 (8 innings)
TEAM RECORDS

Two batters later, Wuske walked to make it bases-loaded in the bottom of the eighth. IU-P was able escape further damage and got the final out on a flyout to center.
