ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's lacrosse team defeated Notre Dame (Ohio) 17-7 at Lewis Stadium Saturday (March 2).

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST PERIOD: Lewis 5, Notre Dame (OH) 1
Notre Dame College started the scoring two minutes in the contest to quickly make it 1-0. Lewis responded with five unanswered.
Meltonique Bowen (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Flanagan) found Serritella at the 12:50 mark to tie the match up at 1.
Emma Stanek (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) found an opening and gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead at 8:56.
A few minutes later,
Sydney Able (Aurora, Colo./Regis Jesuit) found Bowen as she found the back of the net to make it 3-1.
Alyssa Davidson (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) found
Heidi Sweeney (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada/New Westminster) to extend the Flyers lead out to 4-1.
Winterlik joined the scoring in the final 63 seconds of the first period to give Lewis a 5-1 advantage.
SECOND PERIOD: Lewis 3, Notre Dame (OH) 2
Lewis started the second with a pair of goals which extended its unanswered total to seven. Winterlik found Serritella for her second goal of the contest to make it 6-1.
Davidson found a spot in the defense and was able to find the back of the net to make it 7-1 Flyers. The Falcons got back on the scoreboard and found the back of the net.
Serritella recorded her third goal of the match 34 seconds later to extend it out to 8-2. NDC got another goal in the final 76 seconds which made it 8-3 Lewis.
THIRD PERIOD: Lewis 4, Notre Dame (OH) 3
Lewis came out firing in the second half, scoring the first four goals of the third quarter. Serritella opened it up with her fourth goal at the 13:19 mark.
Less than two minutes later, Bowen found
Amelia Procyk (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best) for a 10-3 Lewis lead. Moments later, Serritella had her game high fifth goal of the match off the pass from Sweeney.
Sweeney was able to be open and found the back of the net off the pass from Winterlik to give Lewis a 12-3 lead with 5:12 to play in the third. The Falcons closed out the third with three unanswered goals which made it 12-6 Lewis.
FOURTH PERIOD: Lewis 5, Notre Dame (OH) 1
Lewis started the final stanza with the first two goals. Procyk fed it into Bowen for the score to make it 13-6 Flyers.
Winterlik recorded her second goal of the game 35 seconds later which made it 14-6 in favor of Lewis. NDC got one back at the 8:19 mark but that was their last goal of the contest.
The Flyers closed out the contest with the final three goals of the match. Bowen scored her second goal of the game to make it 15-7.
Procyk had her second goal of the game with 3:43 which gave Lewis a 16-7 lead. Sweeney recorded her third goal of the contest 73 seconds later and forced a running clock as the Flyers were ahead 17-7 after the goal.
FINAL SCORE: Lewis 17, Notre Dame (Ohio) 7
