ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team lost both games of its series-ending doubleheader against Maryville Sunday (March 24) at Brennan Field. The Saints won game one 5-3 and took game two by a score of 8-7.

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Maryville put up three runs in the top of the second to start the scoring. Lewis answered with
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) hitting a double to score
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) in the bottom half and make it 3-1.
The Saints added another run in the top of the fourth which chased
Luke Brown (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) from the game for the Flyers. Brown finished with 3 ? innings pitched, allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout, taking the loss (0-2).
Keaty singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth for the Flyers, followed by
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) hitting a double to create a scoring opportunity for Lewis. Back-to-back sacrifices by
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) and
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) brought both runners in and made it 4-3.
Maryville scored one more in the top of the sixth inning to make it 5-3. Lewis was unable to score the rest of the way as the Saints earned the victory.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Maryville got its bats going early in game two, scoring four runs in the top of the first. Bilecki hit a double for the Flyers in the bottom half and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) to make it 4-1.
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) singled to lead off the second for Lewis and came around to score on an infield single by Alt. The Flyers scored again in the third, as
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) drove in
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) to cut the deficit to 4-3.
The Saints scored three more in the top of the fourth to push the lead to 7-3. Bilecki smashed a home run in the bottom of the inning to get Lewis back within three, 7-4.
In the top of the seventh, Maryville led off with a home run to make it 8-4. The Flyers loaded the bases in the bottom half on three walks, and Krol pushed a run home with a single to right field that scored Headrick.
Bilecki then singled to right as well, bringing Keaty and Alt home and making it 8-7. Unfortunately for Lewis, that was where the rally stopped as a fielder's choice wrapped up the Saints' victory.
