ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team won, 11-7, to open its series against Truman State Thursday (March 28) at Brennan Field. The Flyers hit five home runs in the win, the most in a game this season for Lewis.

GAME SUMMARY
Truman State struck first with two runs in the top of the third. Lewis answered with a big inning in the fourth, putting up four runs.
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) started the rally with a single and after a balk sent him to second base, he scored on another single by
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita).
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) then smacked his seventh home run of the season to bring home McDevitt and gave the Flyers a 3-2 lead then
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) went back-to-back to bring the lead to 4-2.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) got in on the home run party, knocking a two-run shot that brought home
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and made it 6-2 Lewis. The Flyers kept adding to the lead as
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) doubled to score
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly), who had gotten down a bunt single and bought the score to 7-2.
Dylan Wolff (Joliet, Ill.) finished his day after getting the first out of the seventh, going 6+ innings and allowing two runs on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts, earning the win (3-2). Lewis then added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh with two more dingers.
Krol bashed his sixth homer of the year with a solo shot to center and Cantelo hit his second home run of the day to plate Fox and make it 10-2. Bilecki doubled in the bottom of the eighth and later scored on a walk by Fox to push the lead to 11-2.
The Bearcats offense finally got going again in the top of the ninth, pushing five runs across to close the deficit.
Collin Amsden (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) came on and shut the door for the Flyers, getting a lineout to first base to seal the 11-7 win and earn his fourth save of the year.
