ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team split its doubleheader against Truman State Friday (March 29) at Brennan Field. The Flyers won game one, 13-3, and the Bulldogs won game two 2-1.

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Lewis got off to a fast start as
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) bashed a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. In the third, Fox struck again with an RBI double to bring home
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.), kicking off a four-run inning for the Flyers.
Jackson Hunley (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) singled to bring home
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) and Fox scored on an error by the Truman State pitcher to make it 7-0. Lewis scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth as
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) singled home
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) and Kocen later scored on a wild pitch as the Flyers increased the lead to 9-0.
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the top of the sixth and that was all for
Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) on the mound for Lewis. Sclafani finished with three runs allowed on seven hits, one walk, striking out six and earning the win (4-3).
The Flyers scored four runs in the bottom half, with Fox walking to bring home Kocen to start the scoring. Hunley singled home pinch runner Luke Nelson,
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) brought home Fox with another single and Keaty walked to score
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) and make it 13-3.
Zac Maslona (Carol Stream, Ill./St. Francis) came on and pitched a scoreless seventh inning to finish the win for Lewis.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Game two was scoreless through the first two innings. The Flyers broke through with one run in the bottom of the third as Alt singled, Keaty reached on an error and
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) hit a sacrifice fly to bring Alt around to score.
Truman State responded with a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game.
Luke Carlson (Granville, Ill./Putnam County) pitched five innings for Lewis, before allowing a hit by pitch to lead off the sixth and coming out. Carlson finished with one unearned run allowed one hit and no walks, striking out eight batters.
The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead with a leadoff homer in the top of the seventh. The Flyers could not score in the bottom half and the doubleheader ended in a split.
