FAYETTE, Iowa - The Lewis University baseball team beat Upper Iowa, 20-7, Sunday (April 14) to finish off a four-game sweep of the Peacocks. The Flyers' offense was phenomenal all weekend, scoring 56 total runs and reaching double digits in each of the four games.

GAME SUMMARY
Lewis scored three runs in the top of the first, finishing the series with multiple runs in the first inning in all four games.
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) and
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) both singled to start the game, then
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) hit an RBI groundout to score Fox.
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) singled to bring home Alt, and
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) later tripled to send him home. Upper Iowa responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the first to tie the score at 3-3.
The Flyers regained the lead when
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) singled to bring Krol across the plate in the third to make it 4-3. The Peacocks responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to even it up at four runs apiece.
In the top of the sixth,
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) walked and
Tony Fleischauer (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) doubled him home to give Lewis a 5-4 lead. Upper Iowa responded with two runs in the bottom half to take its first and only lead of the game, 6-5.
The Flyers were quick to respond with five runs in the top of the seventh. McDevitt doubled to bring home Alt, then Cantello hit a two-run double that scored Krol and McDevitt. Bilecki bashed a two-run homer to cap off the rally and put Lewis ahead 10-6.
Lewis scored four more in the eighth to pull away, scoring all four runs with two outs. Alt doubled and later scored on a single by McDevitt, then the Flyers loaded the bases for Bilecki to hit a two-run single and bring home Krol and McDevitt.
After the bases were loaded again, Fleischauer was hit by a pitch to plate Cantelo and put the lead at 14-6. In the ninth, Lewis added six more runs to make it 20-6.
Alt singled and later scored on a passed ball, and Headrick was later hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home Krol and make it 16-6. Fleischauer then added a grand slam to give the Flyers 20 runs, the second-most of the season for Lewis.
Luke Brown (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) (1-2) earned the win with two innings in relief, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk, striking out three.
Kyle Hussey (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) had two scoreless innings on the mound for Lewis, and
Ryan Manikowski (New Lenox, Ill./Providence) and
Zac Maslona (Carol Stream, Ill./St. Francis) both tossed one scoreless inning in the win for the Flyers.
