GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Quincy 4, Lewis 2
Quincy scored in the opening minute to take a 1-0 lead before Bowen got the Flyers on the board with a goal to tie it at one. The Hawks scored the next two goals to take a 3-1 advantage.
Winterlik then scored to get Lewis back within one but Quincy scored another goal to make it 4-2 after the first quarter. Templeton had two saves late in the frame including one on a free-position attempt to keep the Flyers close.
SECOND QUARTER: Quincy 3, Lewis 2
The Hawks scored first in the second quarter to push the lead to 5-2. Lewis got a goal back as Davidson found Winterlik for the score but Quincy earned the next two goals to increase its lead to 7-3.
The Flyers scored the final goal of the first half as
Carlie Serritella (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) found the back of the net to reach 100 career points with just seven seconds left to make it 7-4 at halftime. Templeton had three more saves in the second quarter.
THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 3, Quincy 2
Quincy scored the first goal of the third quarter before Lewis started to make a comeback. Back-to-back goals by Sweeney, both assisted by Davidson, made it 8-6.
After the Hawks scored a goal, Winterlik scored on a free-position shot with the Flyers a player down with two seconds remaining on the clock to make it 9-7 heading into the fourth.
FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 3, Quincy 2
Once again it was Quincy scoring first in the final quarter, but Lewis answered back with a goal by Sweeney, assisted by Davidson, to make it 10-8. Another goal for the Hawks made it a three-goal deficit for the Flyers at 11-8.
Winterlik scored with 8:23 remaining to get Lewis within two, and Bowen scored on a free-position shot with 2:59 left to get within one, 11-10. The Flyers got one more shot off the rest of the way, on a free-position opportunity, but it was saved by the Quincy goalkeeper and the Hawks held on for the win.
FINAL SCORE: Quincy 11, Lewis 10
