COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Lewis University softball suffered a setback in a pair of contests at Ohio Dominican Tuesday (April 16). The Panthers won the opening game 5-4 then the second 2-0.

Both teams did not score in the first two innings.
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora) started the scoring in the third inning with a RBI groundout which scored
Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) to make it 1-0.Â
Ohio Dominican erupted for five runs in the bottom of the third to grab an 5-1 advantage. Lewis rallied in the sixth inning with three runs to cut it down to 5-4.Â
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) singled up the middle which scored
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) to make it 5-2.
Meghan Bontrager (Milford, IN/Northridge) ripped an RBI double down the left field line, scoring
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) which made it 5-3.
Wuske got hit by the pitch with the bases loaded to score Frafjord and make it 5-4 ODU. The Panthers escaped further damage and got the third out.Â
Lewis was able to get two runners on base in the seventh after singles by Garden and Hoffman but the Panthers recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the contest.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) (12-2) suffered the defeat as the sophomore tossed three innings, scattering five hits, allowing five runs, walking one and striking out one. Wuske pitched three scoreless innings in relief only allowing one hit and striking out two.Â

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Ohio Dominican started the second game with a run in the first inning to quickly make it 1-0. The Panthers doubled its lead in the third inning with another run to make it 2-0 as that score would hold for the rest of the game.
Garden (13-6) suffered the setback in the circle, the junior tossed six innings, allowed eight hits, gave up two runs (one earned), walking two and struck out two.Â
