KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Lewis University softball team swept both games of a doubleheader without allowing a run against Truman State Saturday (April 20). The Flyers won the first and second game both 9-0 in five innings.
GAME 1: Lewis 9, Truman State 0 (5 innings)

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Both teams did not score in the first two innings. Lewis broke through with a five-run third inning which gave the Flyers a 5-0 advantage.
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) started the inning with a single,
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora) singled, then
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) scored Graham with an RBI double to left center which made it 1-0.
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) singled home Nilles to make it 2-0 Lewis.
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) drove home Hoffman and Garden with her single then Powell came around and scored on a Truman State miscue to extend the lead to 5-0. Graham connected on her fourth home run of the season as she hit a solo shot to left center which made it 6-0 Lewis in the fourth.
In the fifth inning, Nilles extended the Lewis lead to 7-0 after hitting a RBI single to right center, scoring
Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) from second. Garden continued to provide herself run support as the junior hit a two-run single to left center which gave Lewis a 9-0 advantage.
Lewis was able to hold Truman State off the scoreboard in the bottom half as the Flyers won via mercy rule. Garden (14-6) recorded the win in the circle after tossing five innings, allowing five hits and striking out nine.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) started the scoring in the second game with an RBI single up the middle which scored Garden to make it 1-0.
Evie Calderon (Chicago, IL/Whitney Young) opened up the game in the third inning, scoring Graham, Frafjord and Hoffman with a grand slam to extend it to 5-0.
Hoffman extended the Lewis lead to 6-0 in the fourth after her RBI single drove home
Grace Erickson (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central). Later that inning, Powell hit a two-run single to right center, scoring Hoffman and Garden to make it 8-0.
The next inning, Nilles reached on fielder's choice which scored
Mackenzie Sheehan (Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove) to make it 9-0 in favor of Lewis. The Flyers held Maryville off the scoreboard in the fifth as Lewis won via run-rule.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) (13-2) recorded the win in the circle for Lewis after going five innings, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out five.
