ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team won, 8-3, over Missouri S&T Friday (April 19) at Brennan Field.

Lewis scored first in the bottom of the second as
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) doubled off the wall in right field to bring
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) home. The Flyers' 1-0 lead held until the bottom of the fifth when Lewis added four more runs.
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) doubled off the wall in right center to score Headrick and
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin), then Kocen launched a home run just inside the right field foul pole to bring Fox home and make it 5-0. Missouri S&T got on the board with a two-run home run in the seventh to make it 5-2.
Lewis got going again in the bottom of the eighth as Fox swatted a two-run shot to right center that scored Keaty, then Kocen made it back-to-back homers by following up with a solo blast that made it 8-2. The Miners scored one run in the top of the ninth, but the Flyers held on to win 8-3.
Dylan Wolff (Joliet, Ill.) earned the win (5-2) on the mound after going seven innings, allowing two runs, scattering five hits issuing two walks while striking out eight.Â
Jackson Bruno (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame Prep) earned the first save of his collegiate career after coming on for the last two innings and giving up one run on two hits and no walks with one strikeout.
